It reads more like a short story that a full-length novel. I was somewhat disappointed in the predictability of the story. Still grieving over the suicide of her teenage son and the painful dissolution of her marriage, Maggie Dartman is resigned to living the rest of her life alone. Her neighbor, widower Quinn Thompson, is also struggling with loss, realizing too late the staggering depth of his late wife’s love.Hoping to escape his painful memories, Quinn plans to sail around the world. But when the storm of the century ravages San Francisco on New Year’s Eve, the powerful tempest brings with it Jack Adams, a young carpenter who repairs more than just their damaged homes. Through the simple gift of friendship, he shows Maggie and Quinn how to weather life’s storms, so they can heal their broken hearts and once again, believe in miracles.

High Plains Tango
by Robert James Waller

If you were a fan of The Bridges of Madison County, then you will also like this one. Tango is a continuation of Waller's saga about Robert Kincaid, the photographer in Bridges and Country Roads, and his son, Carlisle McMillan. High Plains Tango is a tale of mystery, magic, sex, masculinity, the wistfulness of growing old, the absence of craftsmanship in modern life, the death of small Western towns, crooked land deals and ecological desolation.

The Nosy Neighbor
by Fern Michaels

This is on the lighter side, a contemporary romance! Lucy Baker is a successful lawyer who walks away from her legal career even after being recruited for a judgeship. Lucy moves to suburbia and meets a man named Jonathan St. Clair who wines and dines her and ultimately pops the question. Lucy loves suburbia, her home, her dog, and her neighbors, especially the handsome, exasperating one next door, Wylie Wilson, who also has a dog. But when FBI special agents confront Lucy with shocking revelations about her fiancé’s secret double life, everything about her husband–to–be is cast in suspicion. Recovering from a freak accident that has left her with a heightened sense of intuition, and getting closer than she ever dreamed to Wylie, Lucy must determine who to trust before she puts her life in danger. A good read for a lazy day at the beach or pool!

Dance of Death
by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Check this one out! If you are into suspense and thrillers, then this one is for you. This is Preston and Child's sequel to Brimstone. The story centers on FBI Agent Aloysius Pendergast who is now trying to outsmart his evil brother, Diogenes. Diogenese has been on a spree committing murders across the continent with the intent of framing his brother for them. Pendergast seeks the help of his friend, NYPD Lt. Vinny D'Agosta, to help him trap his brother and put and end to his evil. This is by far one of their best storylines that again ends with a mysterious cliffhanger. Did they really put a stop to Diogenes, or will he surface again?
